Your PHB Heritage Foundation has had even a bigger and better 2014. Our museum continues to grow and is a shining star of small museums in Oklahoma. Several additional items of significance have been added to our displays. Though there are several hundred items in the museum, everything is so nicely presented, that you do not have a feeling of disarray or clutter. Recently, we received a Boyt saddle, donated by Alda Buresh. The Boyt saddles have a historical background and were very influential during our country's Calvary Days. Boyt is still in business today in Iowa.
Again, the foundation took an active role in our annual PHBA Convention. This last year, we hosted and honored our great Western Heritage with a wonderful bar-b-cue dinner and entertainment by Craig Clemens, CFO of the Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum and Western Heritage Center located in Oklahoma City, OK. Mr. Clemens is a longtime songwriter for the country singer, Garth Brooks. PHBA APA Anniversary Awards were also presented during the evening.
The PHB Heritage Foundation continued to reimburse PHBA for floor space, electricity and air conditioning at a fee of $2,400 per year. The foundation provided monies to the PHBA Youth Scholarship and Educational Fund, in the annual amount of $500 to other deserving youth.
For the second year, your foundation sponsored two Heritage Classes at the PHBA World Show held in Tunica, MS. Both classes increased in participation numbers and provided for great interest and entertainment. Horses were shown in Heritage Halter and Heritage Western Pleasure as they would have looked in the 1940’s through the 1960’s. Sponsored cash awards and vintage trophies were presented to the class winners.
In addition, all of the PHBA Award plaques and the PHBA Presidential pictures were updated in the PHBA Board of Director's room. Your foundation has great plans for 2015 and even greater expectations for 2016, which will be PHBA’s 75th Anniversary. Plans are underway to develop a high-quality 75th Anniversary Souvenir Publication to be distributed during 2016. Sponsorships will be sold to pay for this publication so it can be distributed free of charge.
If you have historical vintage items of interest or ideas, that would enhance our museum displays, please see one of our PHBHF Board members. Take time to visit the PHBHF Museum, it will be a great experience viewing the many Historical and Vintage items on display, of PHBA’s history.
